The developers of a commercial casino in Michigan are backing the Shinnecock Nation of New York.
Marian Ilitch and Michael Malik helped pay for the tribe's successful federal recognition bid. Now they stand to gain more if they win approval to open a casino with the tribe.
Ilitch and Malik developed the MotorCity Casino in Detroit, which is owned by Ilitch and her husband, Mike Ilitch.
