The Menominee Nation of Wisconsin is asking the city council in Kenosha and the board in Kenosha County for an extension on its off-reservation casino deal.
The tribe wants to convert the Dairyland Greyhound Park into a casino. The agreement spells out how the tribe will pay for municipal services at the site and how gaming revenues will be shared.
The deal expires December 31. The tribe is requesting a six-month extension.
The Bush administration rejected the project earlier this year but the tribe is hopeful President Barack Obama will approve a more favorable off-reservation gaming policy.
