The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians will have a nearby competitor when the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Potawatomi Indians, also known as the Gun Lake Tribe, opens a casino next summer.
The Huron Band opened the FireKeepers Casino in September. The Gun Lake Casino will be about 40 miles away.
"We think both projects will succeed and provide jobs and government services for our people while benefiting non-tribal citizens alike," Gun Lake spokesman James Nye told The Battle Creek Enquirer.
The Gun Lake Casino will be less than half the size of the FireKeepers Casino.
