The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal
Nation of Connecticut is up against some big deadlines as it seeks to build a commercial casino in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The tribe and its partners have until December 1 to tell the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board about the specifics of financing for the Foxwoods Casino Philadelphia. The facility must open by May 29, 2011, a deadline that could lead to a temporary structure at the site.
"No one wants to take the chance of going up against the time limit without options," attorney Stephen A. Cozen told The Philadelphia Inquirer. "They may feel it's safer to go with a temporary building than an interim one."
The tribe changed casino sites twice and is now back at its original location on the waterfront in south Philadelphia.
