The city council in San Jacinto, California, voted unanimously to oppose a land-into-trust application for the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians.
The tribe wants 535 acres placed in trust. The existing Soboba Casino will be moved to the new site.
The city cited traffic concerns and objections from people whose homes would be located next to the new casino. The city said a environmental impact statement for the project failed to address traffic.
In another action, the city council approved a permit for the tribe to add a driving range at the Country Club at Soboba Springs.
