The San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians is expanding the Valley View Casino but some neighbors aren't happy with the project.
The tribe is building a 12-story, 161-suite hotel at the facility. Renee Meyst says noise from the casino has become too loud to bear.
"All day and all night long," Meyst tells The North County Times.
Meyst and another neighbor also complain about the smell from the casino's water treatment facility. "Every time my daughter pulls out of the driveway, I just hold my breath," Gloria Favela Rocha tells the paper.
The tribe has installed a sound barrier to mitigate noise and offered to buy Meyst's property but she declined to sell. Rocha tried to sell her home but was unsuccessful.
