The Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake signed a Class III gaming compact with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R).
The deal requires the tribe to share 15 percent of net revenues with the state. It also requires the tribe to meet or exceed the Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) that were issued by the National Indian Gaming Commission.
The tribe plans to open a $25 million casino with 349 slot machines. The deal allows the tribe to offer up to 750 slot machines.
The compact requires the approval of the California Legislature and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
