The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut has hired a communications firm, a law firm and an investment firm as it deals with "dire financial times."
The tribe hired Joele Frank, Wilkinson Brimmer Katcher, a firm that specializes in “crisis communications," The New London Day reported. The firm has already sent a letter to gaming employees on behalf of the tribal council.
”First, we want to be clear that we do not anticipate that the Tribe's financial restructuring will affect our employees, customers, vendors or business partners,” the letter stated, The Day reported.
The tribe also hired investment bank Miller Buckfire and law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges to renegotiate at least $1.45 billion in debt incurred from the operation and expansion of Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods.
