The Washington State Gambling Commission will hold a hearing on Thursday to discuss proposed amendments in the Class III compact with the Tulalip Tribes.
In 1999, the tribe signed the first compact with the state. The agreement has been amended a few times over the years, with the latest changes affecting employees, tribal records, dispute resolution and tribal financial partners.
With regard to employees, the tribe wants to be able to offer conditional certifications to certain tribal members who might not otherwise qualify under state rules. The change is expected to affect only a handful of potential employees.
If the commission approves the compact, it will go to Gov. Chris Gregoire (D) for review.
