The Bureau of Indian Affairs will hold a public hearing on proposed gaming acquisition for the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians of California.
The tribe wants 535 acres placed in trust. The existing Soboba Casino will be moved to the new site if the acquisition receives BIA approval.
The public hearing will take place August 5. Comments on draft environmental impact statement are being accepted until September 15, 2009.
Notice of the draft EIS was published in the Federal Register on Friday. It was the second notice signed by new assistant secretary Larry EchoHawk.
