The treasurer of the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska was suspended following the closure of the tribe's casino in Iowa.
Tribal members demanded the removal of Ansley Griffin, The Sioux City Journal reported. They blamed him for the failure of the CasinOmaha and accused him of mismanagement.
"He served himself first,'' Wynema Morris said at a lengthy council meeting, the paper reported. "He doesn't think of the people.''
The tribe closed CasinOmaha last week and laid off 185 employees. Tribal leaders hope to renovate and reopen reopen the facility within 30 to 60 days but financing remains an issue.
