Some patrons of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians are looking forward to drinking at the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino in North Carolina.
Beverly Easton said drinking is part of the gambling experience. "You come here to have fun and relax, and having a cocktail is part of it," she told The Smoky Mountain News.
Not everyone is excited though. "I’ve been at ones that drink and ones that don’t, and I’d rather be at one that doesn’t," Wanda Thurman said.
Tribal members voted 1,847-1,301 in favor of alcohol sales. Officials are expecting up to $70 million a year in additional revenues.
