Oklahoma tribes are drawing gamblers from Texas, Kansas and Arkansas, where gaming options are limited.
The Chickasaw Nation owns a large casino near the Texas border. WinStar World Casino is undergoing a renovation that will make it the third largest in North America and the fifth largest in the world, according to the tribe.
“We are positioning ourselves to compete with major cities across the country, not just Texas and the surrounding states,” tribal executive Bill Lance said in a statement to The Oklahoma Gazette.
The Cherokee Nation operates casinos near the Arkansas border and the Quapaw Tribe recently opened a casino right where Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri meet.
