The Cloverdale Rancheria of Pomo Indians of California is moving forward with plans for a casino after winning a "restored" lands exception from the National Indian Gaming Commission.
The tribe recently acquired 79 acres next to its original rancheria. The NIGC said the land can be used for gaming under Section 20 of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
According to The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat, the decision was made last December. But the tribe didn't announce it until last week and the NIGC website doesn't list anything for the Cloverdale Rancheria.
The land still needs to be placed in trust and the tribe still needs to negotiate a compact before opening the casino.
