The Maine Legislature is considering two bills to expand gaming options for the Passamaquoddy Tribe (Indian Township | Pleasant Point ) and the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians.
LD 1739 allows the Passamaquoddy Tribe to offer up to 100 slot machines on days when high-stakes beano is played. The measure will help the tribe compete with non-Indian gaming facilities, Passamaquoddy Tribal Rep. Donald Soctomah said.
LD 526 allows the Houlton Band to offer high-stakes bingo and beano games. The tribe is currently barred from high-stakes gaming due to limitations in state law.
