The board of supervisors in Yavapai County, Arizona, voted 2-1 on Monday to return $50,000 in gaming funds to the Yavapai-Apache Nation.
The tribe shares revenues with local governments under the tribal-state Class III gaming compact. But officials said the money came with "strings attached," The Prescott Daily Courier reported.
At issue was the tribe's request to direct $35,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Central Arizona and $7,500 each to two public schools.
