The board in the town of Thompson, New York
is supporting the off-reservation casino sought by the Seneca Nation.
The tribe announced plans earlier this year for the Catskills facility. But local officials said they wouldn't support it unless the tribe negotiated agreements with them.
The tribe has agreed to do that and plans to negotiate a memorandum of understanding with the town and Sullivan County. Local support should boost the tribe's efforts to secure Congressional approval for the facility.
The tribe is working with RotateBlack to develop a casino and hotel in Thompson.
