Economists working for the Florida Legislature say a Class III gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe will bring in hundreds of millions of dollars to the state.
The House version of the compact will bring in about $257 million in the first year, economists say. The proposal would limit the tribe to slot machines.
The Senate's version would bring in about $504 million in the first year, according to economists. The tribe would be able to offer slot machines and card games.
''We believe there has been growth and there will continue to be some growth going forward, regardless of whether there are table games or not,'' said Amy Baker, the director of the Legislature's Office of Economic and Demographic Research, The Miami Herald reported.
