Tribes in southern California are developing a regional transportation system to serve their casinos and their communities.
The Reservation Transportation Authority consists of 17 tribes in San Diego County. They are hoping the system will provide alternative transportation options for their 14,000 employees.
"As one of San Diego County’s largest employer groups, tribal gaming enterprises make a huge impact on regional commuting," Albert Phoenix, a member of the Barona Band of Mission Indians who serves as chairman of the RTA, told San Diego Metropolitan.
Seven tribes have completed commuter assessment survey among gaming employees as part of the effort.
