Women from the Tigua Tribe of Texas are lobbying for a gaming bill in response to concerns raised by a lawmaker.
According to Quorum Report, state Rep. Valinda Bolton (D) is concerned that Tigua women don't have a right to choose their leadership. So Rep. Norma Chávez (D), who is sponsoring a bill to restore the tribe's gaming rights, is bringing a delegation of Tigua women to the state Capitol to explain the issue.
The tribe operated a successful casino in El Paso until the state went to court to shut it down.
