The St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin has reduced per capita payments due to a drop in gaming revenues.
Tribal members are now receiving just $400 a month from the St. Croix Casino and Hotel. That's down from $1,000 for adults and $1,500 for elders.
Chairwoman Hazel Hindsley said the cuts are temporary. But some tribal members said they weren't told in advance of the decision.
The tribe is pursuing a joint off-reservation casino Beloit with the Bad River Band of Lake
Superior Chippewa Indians.
