The United Food and Commercial Workers Union is organizing among bartenders, beverage servers and bar porters at the casino owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.
The union is proceeding under tribal law. A secret ballot election for the 400 affected employees is slated for April 8.
The tribe was facing a battle in federal court after another union organized among 3,000 card dealers at Foxwoods Resort Casino. That election was the first overseen by the National Labor Relations Board at a tribal gaming facility.
