The board of supervisors in Yuba County, California, will vote on a letter that takes a favorable view of the Enterprise Rancheria casino.
Supervisor John Nicoletti said the letter isn't an "endorsement" of the project. But with the economy in recession and unemployment in double digits, the letter cites the benefits to the local community.
The tribe says it will create 3,500 jobs with the project. Once opened, the casino will employ 1,933 people.
The letter, if approved, will be sent to the Bureau of Indian Affairs as part of the land-into-trust process.
