The Campo Kumeyaay Nation paid a California woman $500,000 to settle a slip and fall lawsuit stemming from an accident at the tribe's casino.
Celeste Bluehawk took the tribe to court after she was injured at the Golden Acorn Casino. A state appeals court said the tribal-state Class III gaming compact required arbitration for injury claims.
The tribe had sought review by the state Supreme Court but the case was refused.
