The Cowlitz Tribe of Washington might finally get an answer on its proposed casino.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs completed a final environmental impact statement on the Cowlitz Casino Resort last summer. It recommended the acquisition of 152 acres for the tribe.
But officials in Washington, .D.C., have failed to act on the request. George Skibine, who is in charge of the BIA until a new assistant secretary is confirmed, told The Columbian that he still doesn't know when a decision will be made.
"Now you are asking the $64,000 question," said Cowlitz Vice Chair Phil Harju. "If anyone answers it, you know they are making it up because no one knows."
