The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut reported an 8.7 percent drop in slot machine winnings for January 2009.
The decline continues a less than stellar year at Mohegan Sun. ”All in all, considering the weather and the overall economic conditions, it could be worse,” said Mitchell Etess, the casinos chairman and chief executive officer, The New London Day reported.
The nearby Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has seen a drop in slot winnings as well. Last month, Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods saw a 7.3 percent decline from January 2008.
