The San Carlos Apache Tribe of Arizona is laying off employees and cutting services at its casino.
The Apache Gold Casino Resort will lose 9 percent of its workforce, or about 45 employees. The golf course has been closed temporarily and keno games have been halted.
Chairman Wendsler Nosie Sr. said the layoffs were necessary amid the economic recession.
