The Quechan Nation opens its $214 million casino on Friday.
The tribe broke ground on the Quechan Casino Resort
near Yuma in June 2007. Completion was nearly threatened by the downturn in the economy but the tribe is finally ready to open.
"It took a lot of years of hard work," President Mike Jackson told The Yuma Sun. "It took a whole army of us to get this done. It's our biggest enterprise to date. I'm just glad it's finally open."
The 300,000 square-foot facility features a 166-room hotel, an events center and several restaurants.
