The downturn in the economy prompted the United Auburn Indian Community of California to fire two top casino executives and place another one on leave, a spokesperson said.
Daily management of the Thunder Valley Casino will be handled by Station Casinos. The company, however, is experiencing some economic woes of its own.
The tribe was planning a $1 billion expansion of the casino but halted work due. A spokesperson said an announcement will be made about the future of the project.
