The Seminole Tribe is weighing a $1 billion expansion of its casino in Tampa, Florida.
The tribe envisions a bigger gaming floor, more hotel rooms, additional meeting space, a music venue and new restaurants at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. But the project won't move forward without state approval of a Class III gaming compact.
"Compact approval is necessary to ensure the continuation of blackjack and Las Vegas-style slot machines, which are responsible for almost all of the casino revenue," spokesperson Gary Bitner told The Tampa Bay Tribune.
The tribe has continued to operate slot machines and card games even though its original compact was struck down in state court.
