The Enterprise Rancheria, Estom Yumeka Maidu Tribe of California hopes to win approval of an off-reservation casino.
The tribe says the 40-acre site is part of its aboriginal territory. But the Mooretown Rancheria and some local officials describe the project as "reservation shopping."
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is processing the tribe's land-into-trust application. Governments within 25 miles of the casino site are being asked to comment.
