The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians plans to cut about 100 jobs at its casino in North Carolina.
The cut represents about 5 percent of the workforce at the Harrah's Cherokee Casino. An executive blamed the bad economy for the reduction, the first in the 11-year history of the facility.
Despite the downturn, the tribe is working on a $633 million expansion of the casino.
