The United Auburn Indian Community of California will resume construction on a casino expansion in the coming months.
The tribe began work on the Thunder Valley Casino last year but halted work in November amid concerns about the economy. The project was originally expected to cost $1 billion.
The tribe is reassessing the size of the project, a spokesperson said. "Like most businesses, we are trying to gauge future market demand," the spokesperson told The Sacramento Bee. Work could begin in late spring or early summer.
The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians recently opened a $530 million casino about 35 miles away.
