Mohegan Tribe reports drop in gaming revenues

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut reported a 10 percent drop in gaming revenues for the quarter that ended in December 2008.

Overall revenues at Mohegan Sun fell 10 percent, with slot machines seeing a 7 percent dip and table games dropping by 21 percent. Gamblers spent 5 percent less at the facility, which fell victim to the downturn in the national economy last year.

"Clearly we're not pleased with our operating results," said chief executive Mitchell Etess , The Harford Courant reported.

The tribe suspended a major expansion project and has cut salaries casino employees.
