Berry Creek Rancheria lays off 50 casino workers

The Berry Creek Rancheria is the latest California tribe to eliminate casino jobs.

The tribe laid off 50 employees at the Gold Country Casino. That's about 7 percent of the workforce.

"As the whole economy has suffered, so has the casino," general manager Jack Fisher told The Oroville Mercury-Register. "It's a very tough time for everyone."

Tribes in the state have eliminated more than 450 jobs over the past year.
