Arizona tribes see big drop in gaming revenues

Arizona tribes saw a 16 percent drop in gaming revenues in the last quarter of 2008, according to figures released by the Arizona Department of Gaming on Wednesday.

Tribes don't report figures for the 22 casinos they operate. But based on the amount of revenues they share with the state, they have seen business drop for four quarters in a row.

People are saving their money," Sheila Morago, the executive director of the Arizona Indian Gaming Association, told The Arizona Republic.

The tribes share $12.8 million in the last quarter of 2008. That's down from $15.2 million a year earlier.
