California tribes sued over off-reservation casino

Two California tribes are being sued over a proposed off-reservation casino in the Bay Area.

The Guidiville Band of Pomo Indians plans to build a casino at former Point Molate Naval Fuel Depot in the city of Richmond. The Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians is financing the project.

The deal was moving forward with city's approval. But two environmental groups say the city violated a 2006 settlement that requires environmental reviews of a casino project.

The Guidiville Band hopes the new administration of President Barack Obama will approve a land-into-trust application for the former Navy site.
