The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut plans to announce an agreement with the state to address smoking at its casino.
The tribe said it reached a deal with Gov. M. Jodi Rell (R) to make at least 20 percent of the gaming floor at Mohegan Sun smoke free. Smoking will be banned in other public places at the facility.
Connecticut law bans smoking in public places. Lawmakers sought to impose the same requirement on reservations but Rell said she would negotiate with the Mohegan Tribe and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, owners of Foxwoods Resort Casino.
