Large crowds are expected this evening as the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians opens its first casino in northern California.
The 278,000 square-foot Red Hawk Casino is located off a major highway. The tribe anticipates 10,000 car trips each weekday and 15,000 on weekends and peak days, though that kind of traffic isn't expected on opening day.
The casino features slot machines, table games, six eateries, a children's play area and a teen arcade. The facility employs 1,750 people.
