Connecticut's two tribes saw a $350 million decline in slot revenues at their casinos, a sign of the downturn in the national economy.
The Mohegan Tribe suffered the biggest losses at Mohegan Sun. Slot revenues were down 7.2 percent from July-October 2008, compared to the same period in 2007.
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation also saw a decline at Foxwoods Resort Casino and the new MGM Grand at Foxwoods. Slot revenues fell about 3 percent at the facilities.
“For the longest time, both casinos saw their revenues grow, but those days may be over,” Arthur Wright, a professor who studies gaming, told The Boston Herald.
