Connecticut's two tribal casinos are seeking to extend liquor sales.
As part of the tribal-state Class III gaming compact, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, owners of Foxwoods Resort Casino, and the Mohegan Tribe, owners of Mohegan Sun, comply with state liquor laws. That means they have to stop liquor sales at 1am on weeknights and 2am on weekends.
Informal talks could lead to an extension of the hours. Officials hope to generate more gaming and tax revenues.
In related news, the Mashantucket Tribe gave bonuses to more than 8,000 hourly workers at Foxwoods. The tribe recently eliminated 700 jobs, or about 6 percent of the casino workforce
