The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians announced the December 17 opening of its casino after winning federal approval of its tribal-state Class III gaming compact.

The Red Hawk Casino features 2,000 slot machines, 75 table games, a high-stakes room and 10 food and beverage operations. The compact allows the tribe to install up to 5,000 slots.

The tribe will share between 20 percent to 25 percent of net win with the state.
