Voters in
Needles, California, will have their say on November 4 on an off-reservation casino sought by the
Fort Mojave Tribe.
Voters are being asked to approve the location of a casino outside of city limits. The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors is backing the proposal.
"Particularly when tribes have historical ties to the area - as this tribe does - then I think it can be a good thing, as long as the community supports it," said Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt, The Redlands Daily Facts reported.
The tribe plans a 100,000 square-foot gaming floor with 1,500 slot machines on a 300-acre site.
