Mashantucket Tribe starts layoffs at the top

Just days after announcing layoffs of more than 700 employees, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut has eliminated one of its top positions.

Patricia L. Irvin, the tribe's chief executive officer, was eliminated on Monday. She oversaw the tribe's business operations, including gaming enterprises that have seen a decline in revenues.

”This is all a part of the decision to downsize the work force by 700 people,”spokesperson Lori Potter told The New London Day.

The tribe is eliminating 6 percent of employees at Foxwoods Resort Casino. and the new MGM Grand at Foxwoods.
