More than 14,000 people have applied for jobs at the casino being opened by the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians of California.
The Red Hawk Casino is scheduled open later this year. With only 1,750 positions to be filled, competition is strong for the jobs.
"This has been wildly successful," Peter Fordham, the casino's general manager, told The Sacramento Bee. "Everybody's obviously cognizant of the challenges of the economy today."
The 270,000 square-foot casino will feature 75 table games and about 2,000 slot machines.
