Navajo Nation leases slot machine rights to tribes

The Navajo Nation is leasing the rights to 1,000 slot machines to three tribes in Arizona.

The machines will go to the Gila River Indian Community, the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and the Tohono O'odham Nation. An estimated $100,000 in annual revenues will be shared with the Navajo Nation.

The Navajo Nation's Class III gaming compact with Arizona authorizes the tribe to operate up to 1,400 slot machines.
