Arizona tribes work harder for gaming revenues

Arizona's gaming tribes continue to see growth at their casinos but they are working harder to reach customers amid national economic woes.

The Ak-Chin Indian Community and the Pascua Yaqui Tribe realize the double-digit growth seen in the past can't be sustained. So both are offering more promotions and pampering regular customers

"We are going out of our way to get people to come back," Holly O'Brien, the marketing director for the Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino, told The Arizona Republic. "If you play for 60 minutes and lose $50, we make sure you get the money back in some way."

According to the latest Indian Gaming Industry Report, tribes in the state generated $2.28 billion in revenues at their casinos. Nationwide, tribal casinos took in $26.5 billion in 2007, an increase of 5 percent from 2006.
