Tigua Tribe and state spar in court over gaming

The Tigua Tribe and the state of Texas were in court on Wednesday over gaming-like activities occurring on the reservation.

The state forced the tribe to shut down its casino in early 2002. The state now claims the tribe is operating gaming machines at the Speaking Rock Entertainment Center. in violation of the closure order.

The tribe was offering players gift cards that could be used at the facility. But the tribe never intended to violate the law, an attorney said.

Judge Harry Hudspeth said he will issue a decision on the matter soon.
