Agua Caliente Band unveils sculpture at casino

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians unveiled a granite sculpture at the tribe's casino in Palm Springs, California.

The sculpture outside the Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa depicts four men playing peon, a traditional tribal game. It was created by Doug Hyde, who is Nez Perce, Assiniboine and Ojibwe.

"It is one of the most powerful games we played," said treasurer Moraino Patencio, The Palm Springs Desert Sun reported. "It's how we taught our people to gather knowledge and power."
