Connecticut tribes break slot machine slump

Connecticut's two tribes are responding with caution after breaking an eight-moth slump in slot machine revenues.

Slot revenues at the Foxwoods Resort Casino, owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, jumped 7.7 percent from May 2007. Part of the increase was attributed to the opening of the MGM Grand at Foxwoods facility.

Slot revenues at the Mohegan Sun Casino, owned by theMohegan Tribe , rose only 0.1 percent. But that was better than the steady decline over the last eight months.

Under the tribal-state Class III gaming compact, tribes share 25 percent of slot revenues with the state.
